Message: Hey Miranda, i was wondering if you have a Myspace? if so what is the address. PLEASE reply. thank you, Ashleigh Fedke` xoxoxo mwa :). p.s. how did you become a model? besides from your unique look.

Thanks Ashleigh. We are working on a new myspace site right now and should be launching it at the end of the month, I will definitely mention it in my blog so watch this space.

I started modeling part time after I won the Dolly Covergirl competition and then full time as soon as I finished high school. I believe to be successful at anything you have to give it a 100% commitment and that is what I still do to this day.

Message: Hey Miranda How are you? Well my name is Emma and i am really interested in modelling and i would love to be one when i am older. I have just recently one a photo shoot, could you please give me some tips on posing and smiling and working the camera coz you do it so well!!! Thanx Miranda xxx ps - You are my favourite model and i think you are really pretty, you will be the next Gisele!!

Thank you Emma.  Congratulations on winning the photo shoot.  I think the best tip I can give you is when the photographer is taking your photo, don’t pose so much but try and relax more than anything and think of something that you really love and let that energy shine through and the camera will capture it.

Piece of fruit or nuts for afternoon tea

Dinner:
Either a salmon steak or other fish or Lamb Loin chops or a piece of steak with veges or salad
I don’t eat a lot of potato, but I eat heaps of greens and sweet potato and pumpkin roasted.

So crazy right now!

Wow what a crazy week!!!

As some of you know I spent four days in Sydney shooting the new Portmans campaign which was hard work, but a lot of fun as well.  On the Thursday night I hosted the Cleo/Portmans party which was totally surreal.

miranda_cleo.jpg   miranda_richard.jpg

Mum managed to get down from Gunnedah to see me which was great.  Was so lovely seeing her I miss my family and friends so much while I’m away.

miranda_mum.jpg

I managed to squeeze in a shoot with Madison while I was back as well, before having to fly back for a shoot in Miami.  Unfortunately to get there on time I had to fly via Fiji, LA, San Francisco then on to Miami.  Complete madness!  I got straight off the plane at 5am and went directly to work, where I shot all day, slept the night in Miami then woke up the next morning at 5am to catch a flight to Mexico!

miranda_beach2.jpg

Mexico was amazing, fortunately another model and friend of mine Caroline Franceschini and I were on the same flight. We arrived in Mexico mid-afternoon and headed straight to the beach! The water was amazing and so rejuvenating after all that flying. We were staying in this divine hotel where we were very spoilt and each had our own private butler attending to our every need!  Work the next day started at 5am and wrapped up around 6pm, but was followed by a yummy dinner with the crew at this gorgeous Mexican restaurant.

I flew out of Mexico first thing in the morning direct to NYC.  It felt so good to be home and able to relax and catch up with Frankie!  Had a great day off, and spent the time paying bills and catching up on all my errands.  Domestic bliss!  The day after I had one day of shooting in Miami, but luckily I will be working in New York for the rest of the week, which is great because I’ll be based at home, and I love being here!

Hope you’re all well… lots of love, Miranda xxx

The Portmans shoot was great, we worked very hard, and the pictures look amazing. I’m heading back home to New York to see Frankie and have a short break before more work, but I’ll be back in Australia soon!

Take care and don’t forget to smile,

I’m back home to Australia soon!

Wow what a crazy week I had!  Luckily to begin with I was based in New York which was great! I’ve recently discovered a new favourite restaurant (Pure Food and Wine on Irving and 17th street in NY) and I was literally eating there every chance I had. They have a wide range of organic raw food which not only tastes incredible it is extremely good for you too.

Unfortunately this peaceful existence is always short lived and so after a couple of quiet days in NY I flew out to London for a one day shoot with an English based client.  This turned as to be a real blessing as I was able to catch up with some Aussie friends, who currently reside in London.

I had such as great night and it was great to catch up with some people I hadn’t seen in ages but it probably wasn’t the best preparation for a 7-am to Hawaii!  The flight itself goes via Los Angles and by the time I arrived it was 11pm and I had to be at work the next morning at 5am!

After a whirlwind shoot I arrived back in NY early in the morning and went straight home to Frankie! I miss her so much when I am away! Fortunately I have a really good friend of mine who takes care of her when she’s unable to come with me.

Friday night I have a cocktail party for Vogue and Ralph Lauren and Saturday morning I’m coming back to the home land to shoot for Portmans!

I love getting back home and it will be great to see my family, even though I speak to mum and dad almost every day, I do miss them a lot which makes getting home all that more important.

While I am home I will also be doing my first Portmans Live Chat!  This will take place on Wednesday the 12th of September at 4pm and I’m really excited about speaking to you all, so please jump online where I’ll be able answering all your questions!

I always love coming home, and this will be just another incentive! Until next time take care and keep smiling! Lots of love, Miranda xxxx

Why never to forget your passport!

Wow, what a busy time I have had over the last month.  I came home to Australia to shoot the cover for Cleo that is out in stores now. I loved the team I was working with and the way they styled the Portman’s pieces. The photographer was truly amazing photographer and I admire his work so much.

I left Sydney on a Tuesday and flew directly into Los Angeles for three days to shoot two television commercials.  From there I went home to New York for a few days to spend some time with little Frankie and then it was off to The Estate in Sag Harbour to attend a Victoria’s Secret function for the re-launch of the Secret Garden body care collection.

miranda-view-plane.jpgmiranda-small-plane.jpg

A few days later I was at the airport getting ready to fly to St Lucia (Caribbean) to do another shoot and realised I had left my passport at home. What began as simple direct flight to St Lucia then turned into an overnight ordeal. I had to fly to Texas, from Texas to Venezuela then from there catch a private plane to St Lucia.

Once I had arrived it was straight onto a boat for a 45-minute ride direct to the shoot location and straight to work. I can say for certain after that I will never leave my passport at home ever again!

We were in St Lucia for three days and then thankfully we left just before a Level 4 Hurricane struck the island. I returned to New York for a day, picked up Frankie and we both headed to Los Angeles for yet another shoot!

miranda-view-st-lucia.jpg

(The beautiful view from my room in St Lucia and some well earned rest!)

miranda-sunbathing.jpg

I love when I get the chance to take Frankie with me as she is such a loving little thing and gets so excited when we get to travel.  I can take her with me on most of the domestic flights around the United States and surprisingly she is always so well behaved.

I would have to say the best and worst part of my job is the constant travel, and while I do get to see so much of this beautiful world, it really can get very tiring. In the next week I will be heading back to New York for a couple of days and then I will be off to London.

It’s great talking to all you guys through the Portmans site and if you have any questions for me, please feel free to ask.  Please also understand, sometimes it might take me a little longer than I would want to respond to your questions but I promise you I will respond if you write.

For now, be good, be kind and stay happy

Love Miranda

Hot Topics with Miranda!

Hi guys!

Wow! I can’t thank everyone enough for all your support! The response to my blog has been amazing, I never expected to get such a good response.

Thank you for all of your comments and questions so far, it is so great hearing from you guys, and I’ll continue to answer as many as I can.

Lots of love

Message: Being a model has expectations of flawless beauty and grace, but sometimes do you feel the urge to wear the most comfortable (but ugliest) trackies?

Hi Anna, most definitely! I love wearing trackies to lounge around the house in and the strange thing is, it doesn’t matter how many new ones I get I still tend to feel most comfortable in my old ones.

Name: Dani

Message: Hi Miranda! I think its amazing how you’ve made it to the top of the modelling world, you always look beautiful and refreshing. As part of the modelling world how do you feel about girls who constantly starve themselves thinking that they have to be “thin” to make it to the top? Thanks! Xoxo

Thank you Dani I really appreciate your sweet words.

It is sad to see anyone neglecting their body no matter who they are and what they do. You simply cannot be healthy or look great on the outside if you are not healthy on the inside.

Some models are naturally thin and look healthy and beautiful that way. They work with their body shape and generally make it to the top much faster. When you are healthy you look your best and in modeling when you look and feel your best, you get the best results.

Message: Hi miranda, I wantd 2 ask u how u make sure u have ongoing modelling work? As well How do u find living alone in New York with Frankie & away from your family? Xo

Hello Elizabeth, thank you for writing to me. I have agencies in several countries and they are the ones who keep me busy. I often get booked as a result of recommendations by other clients and photographers and then it is up to me to work very hard and ensure they are happy and want to work with me again.

Living in New York was a little daunting at first but now I truly love it. It has its own heartbeat and it is an interesting place filled with interesting people. Frankie is my little angel and I would be very lonely without her with me. I definitely miss my family and try to speak with my mum most days. No matter what, we always get together at Christmas and I love spending that time with the all of my aunties, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Name: Jeremy

Message: Hey Miranda… what are your fav spots to hang out for a drink in NYC?

Hi Jeremy, I love to dance so I would have to say my favourite place to go out in New York is a little club called Beatrice, the music is amazing and the crowd is always fun.

Thanks again guys and don’t forget to keep an eye out for my next blog posting which goes up soon!

My new Portmans TVC

Hey guys, this is the new Portmans TVC I just finished filming! It was so much fun!

August 2nd, 2007

Welcome to my blog!

Hi guys!

Welcome to my new blog!

I was so excited about signing on again as the face of Portmans, and now I’ve got the opportunity to let you in on what my life is actually like! I’m sure everyone would like to hear that it’s all glamorous photo shoots, fashion parades and parties, but I assure you, that’s only a small part.

Hopefully I’ll be able to give you a sneak peek into the world of modelling, and I may even be able to show you photos and backstage footage of what I’m up to!

Well things have been so busy lately, it’s lucky I really love my job. In the last few months I’ve had work on four different continents, re-signed with Portmans, bought an apartment in New York and barely had time to breathe!

A few of you may have seen that I was back in Sydney recently shooting the new Portmans commercial. I love getting back home to see my friends and family, and it doesn’t happen enough, but shooting with Porties always gives me the perfect excuse.

miranda-kerr-portmans-shoot-july-2007-sitting.jpg

It wasn’t entirely smooth sailing though. Thanks to some strange directions from Austin, a friend of mine, I almost missed the shoot! Luckily mum and I got ourselves back on track and we made it just in time.

Work, work, work! That just about sums me up at the moment. I’ve managed to go from Sydney to LA to the Caribbean, Paris, London and New York, all in under two weeks! I am so fortunate to get the opportunity to explore the world with my job, but between you and me, sometimes it can be a little tiring.

That’s why I’m so happy with my new apartment! After living in New York for two years I finally have a home here, and I love the peaceful feeling I get as I walk through the door.

frankie-and-randa-at-shutters.jpg

I’m just down the road from a beautiful park where I can walk my dog Frankie, and it is so amazing here in summer. Living in New York has its hardships too but this city has a strange energy that I love, and because so much of my work is here, it’s a great place to base myself.

Wow it’s definitely a little surreal talking about my own life like this but hopefully this has been ok for my first ever blog posting?! I’m sure I’ll improve as I go along. On the other side of things, I’d love to hear from you guys, so post me a comment or a question and I’ll try to get back to you.

xoxo

Miranda
